Adaptation Panel Sessions

In 2024, the Panel spent four sessions discussing climate adaptation to support the WMCA's growing work in this area.

What is climate adaptation?

Climate adaptation refers to the adjustments made to ensure that our region can better prepare for climate threats.

The goal of adaptation is climate resilience, where our communities, infrastructure and natural environment can withstand, cope with and bounce back from climate impacts.

Why did the Panel spend 4 sessions discussing climate adaptation?

In partnership with the University of Birmingham, WMCA secured over £150k of research funding to develop climate risk and vulnerability assessment mapping tools and to engage with residents to help shape research outputs and next policy steps for the WMCA.

The WMCA used a portion of this funding to host four Panel sessions dedicated to climate adaptation - a topic that had not been taken to the panellists before and is less well known within the climate agenda.
