Our Regional Energy Strategy

To reach our target of becoming a net zero carbon economy by 2041, we need a new approach to energy.

This means changing how it’s supplied, as well as helping people understand how to use energy in a more efficient way.

Our Regional Energy Strategy is driven by Energy Capital. They work to influence government policy and create partnerships that make the West Midlands one of the most attractive places to build innovative clean energy technology companies in the world.

Energy Capital will help to deliver over £15bn of investment in local energy projects before 2030, including:

  • providing local authorities with support to address the challenges of fuel poverty
  • scaling up the retrofit market to help make old technology greener
  • ensuring the energy infrastructure is available to support the transition to zero emission vehicles and buildings
