YouthPath

What is YouthPath?
YouthPath is a new scheme designed to get young people into work.
The aim is to inspire businesses across the West Midlands to create meaningful employment pathways work experience, apprenticeships and job opportunities for young people aged 16-30, who are currently not in education, employment or training (NEET).
YouthPath was launched in March 2025 in partnership with the WMCA and Movement to Work.
Employer Pledge
Youth unemployment is more than double the national average in some areas of the West Midlands, such as Wolverhampton, Walsall, and Birmingham, leading to a cycle of economic stagnation that impacts us all.
The Mayor of the West Midlands is inviting organisations of any size or sector, to contribute to a solution to make the West Midlands the region that gives young people the best possible start in working life.
If you are an employer who wants to support achieving this pledge, you can do so in various ways:
- Supporting NEETs: Provide work placements or experience opportunities. Your details will be shared with our partner organisation, Movement to Work.
- Supporting Non-NEETs: Offer work placements for college students.
- Engaging with schools and colleges: Participate through our careers hubs.
