Niyo Bootcamps

Innovative Delivery Award

With a social mission to economically empower black women and tackle gender stereotypes, Niyo Bootcamps upskill their learners through innovative technology. This delivery model focuses on building learners’ confidence, as well as their skills.

Learners are equipped with skills in emerging and in-demand digital technology, and training. To date Niyo has enrolled 600 women on their Bootcamps programme and delivered 61 successful job outcomes, with some women launching their own businesses.

Tutors bring industry expertise to each bootcamp, while learners gain hands-on experience and build up their portfolios through the completion of mini projects. On top of this, learners receive a wide range of support including wellbeing therapist sessions, CV workshops and mock interview preparations. Learners can even benefit from mentoring opportunities with companies including Capgemini and KPMG.

Idil Hussein, who completed the Software Testing Bootcamp, said: "The support provided was outstanding as it prepared us for the real world of tech, and gave us all a boost in confidence, recognising which skills are transferrable and which ones can be refined. The mentors were very thorough in their approach at each step of the way in this bootcamp."
