Inclusive Leadership Pledge
The Inclusive Leadership Pledge was launched by businesses in response to the Leadership Commission’s call to realise a leadership that better represents the diversity of the West Midlands.
The Inclusive Leadership Pledge aims to build a movement for inclusive leadership by spreading the message of why diversity and inclusion matter, sharing success stories and supporting change.
Soon after taking office, the Mayor Commissioned a report on the diversity of our region’s leadership. The report showed that the lack of diversity at leadership level risked damaging the region's economy and wider society. The Inclusive Leadership Pledge was created in response to the Leadership Commission’s call for a leadership that better represents the diversity of the West Midlands.
The Pledge asks organisations and senior leaders to commit to promoting diversity and embedding inclusion. It is deliberately flexible so that signatories can tailor their pledges to the specific strengths and challenges of their organisation.
The Pledge has been signed by multiple organisations across the region, including The University of Birmingham, West Midlands Fire Service, Suez and KPMG, to name but a few.
