A45 Sprint Route
The new A45 Sprint rapid bus services will take users from Birmingham City Centre to Birmingham Airport and Solihull.
This is just one of three routes being prioritised ahead of the 2022 Commonwealth Games being hosted in Birmingham.
The huge increase in the number of vehicles travelling into Birmingham city centre over the last decade has led to longer commutes for many people using busses as their preferred method of travel. Sprint aims to avoid traffic congestion by utilising dedicated bus lanes and stopping at fewer locations.
In addition to this, our new high-quality vehicles will provide reliable and enjoyable journeys, encouraging residents, business owners, and visitors to choose Sprint buses as an alternative to the car. This will help to reduce congestion and air pollution on the region’s roads.
Delivering the first Sprint routes will be part of a wider investment in road, rail, bus, tram and cycling infrastructure by Transport for West Midlands. This is all designed to deliver an integrated transport system to ease congestion and keep our region moving.
Following extensive public consultation there have been some significant changes to the Sprint proposals. This demonstrates that we are listening to all of our stakeholders. We are committed to keeping you informed and engaged as plans develop further and we will be issuing regular newsletters with updates on Sprint on the project progresses.
