Introduction and purpose

Unemployment in the WM was high compared to the national average before the pandemic but now the numbers have increased significantly. Despite an investment of £70m of AEB funding to support unemployed residents' and specifically funded for SWAP, positive destinations into employment were significantly below contracted volumes. Our focus, therefore, is to ensure that the provision we fund enables individuals to move on and secure employment.
